An apologetic and tearful Adele announced Thursday that her upcoming stay in Las Vegas would be postponed, citing production problems and the toll of Covid-19.
The show, titled “Weekends With Adele,” was set to open Friday at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace, with two concerts a week through April 16.
“I’m so sorry but my show isn’t done yet,” the singer said in a trembling voice in a video posted to her social media channels. “We’ve tried absolutely everything to put it together on time and make sure it’s good enough for you, but we’ve been absolutely destroyed by delivery delays and Covid – half my crew, half my team has Covid, they still are.”
The shows will be rescheduled, she said, describing herself as “discovered” and “very embarrassed”.
Adele’s latest album, ’30’, was released in November and topped the Billboard charts for six weeks.
The recent surge in coronavirus cases has resulted in a number of concert cancellations, including Dead & Company’s performance at Mexico’s Sand festival, although festivals such as Coachella and other high-profile tours continue.
