In what will be former US President Bill Clinton’s debut as a fiction writer, he has teamed up with James Patterson and their thriller, Rich in “Information Only a Former Commander in Chief Could Know” will be released worldwide on Monday (June 4).
The long-awaited novel is titled The president is missing and is published by Penguin Random House.
“Yes, The president is missing is fiction — it’s a thriller — but James Patterson and I have come up with three of the most terrifying days in the history of the presidency. And it really could happen… Nowadays the seemingly impossible can happen. And it goes so fast. I believe readers will not soon forget President Jonathan Duncan and his story,” Clinton said in a statement from his publisher.
The novel would face “a threat so great that not only Pennsylvania Avenue and Wall Street, but all of America is at risk.”
“Uncertainty and fear grip the nation. There are whispers of cyber terror and espionage and a traitor in the cabinet. Even the president himself becomes a suspect, and then he disappears from the public domain,” the publisher said. .
Set over the course of three days, the novel sheds “a stunning light” on the “inner workings and vulnerabilities” of the United States, according to the publisher.
The publisher went on to say that “The President is Missing” is full of information only a former Commander in Chief could know.
“This is the most authentic, haunting novel to come out in many years. And a current, historical story that will be read and discussed for years to come,” the publisher said.
The novel will be available from all major bookstores in India and online from Monday.
Bill Clinton was elected President of the United States in 1992 and served two terms. James Patterson is one of the best-selling writers of all time.
