New Delhi:
Adani Green Energy Ltd (AGEL) said today that it has received recognition for saving water from consumption.
“AGEL has been certified as Water Positive by DNV, an independent global insurance agency. The verification statement indicates that AGEL’s water savings exceed consumption,” said a company statement.
DNV performed a qualitative and quantitative assessment of the water balance index for AGEL’s operational sites with a capacity of more than 200 MW in Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh.
According to the assessment, the water balance index is 1.12 (positive), well exceeding its goal of becoming net water neutral by FY25.
The verification process included spot checks and the methodology, measurement techniques, estimation methods, assumptions and uncertainties involved in the water accounting process as adopted by AGEL.
AGEL has recorded 99.5 percent lower fresh water consumption per unit of generation, compared to the regulatory limit of 3.5 KL/MWh for thermal capacity in FY23.
Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) is the renewable energy platform of Adani Portfolio.
