BENGALURU: Jatin Dalal, who resigned as Wipro CFO was expected to join Cognizant as CFO last week. The move is expected after its CFO, Jan Siegmund, retires in early 2024, sources told TOI. When asked about this, Cognizant said they “do not comment on rumors or speculation in the market.” Dalal did not respond to TOI’s queries on the matter.
Cognizant CEO Ravi Kumar is facing multiple challenges, and Dalal will likely have a good hand in tackling them. The company has been performing worse than its competitors for years. Kumar is trying to put the focus back on growth numbers, re-energize the company’s large deals team and generally boost morale.
If Dalal makes the switch, it will be to a much larger company. Cognizant had revenue of $19.4 billion last year, compared to Wipro’s $11.3 billion. His responsibilities can be diverse. Siegmund as Finance Director oversees financial planning and analysis, accounting and controllership, tax, treasury and internal audit functions. He also oversees business development, investor relations and enterprise risk management. In early 2023, he assumed responsibility for sales activities, pricing and post-acquisition integration. His 2022 compensation was $6.6 million.
