Frontier Airlines took a wipe to Southwest Airlines'To start with the charging of seat assignments and checked luggage by doing the opposite.
Budget Carrier Frontier said that customers can receive a bundle with a seat assignment and a hand luggage without a storage if they book on Tuesday to 24 March for travel until August 18. The promotion applies to non-stop trips booked on the website or app of Frontier.
For flights that leave on 28 May to 18 August, Frontier said that it would include a free checked bag.
The change comes a week after Southwest shocked customers by announcing, from 28 May, it will lose its long -term policy to have customers checked for free of two bags. Southwest was a biter with that policy among airlines, and managers had repeatedly said that they were not going to change it.
“We have always had a heart,” said CEO Barry Biffle in a press release, an apparent wipe to his rival. Southwest, whose port of Dallas Love Field is, has a love and heart motif as part of his branding and the Stock Ticker is LUV. “Some airlines run away from what travelers love, but we run to it. See this as the ultimate 'separation of old airline'. If travelers show us love, we will make these benefits permanent.”
Frontier and colleague Discount Airline Spirit Airlines have offered tariff bundles and facilitates part of their stricter policy measures, such as change costs, to attract more customers. Meanwhile, larger carriers love Delta” American” UnitedAnd most recently, Southwest, have adopted a la carte costs and no-frills ticket options that the budget carriers have long offered.
Last week managers at United, Delta and Spirit said that the policy changes of Southwest can be good for their carriers. Airlines are also struggling with a recent fall in the domestic travel question that has been weighed on estimates of the first quarter.
Southwest did not comment on the new promotion of Frontier.
