BENGALURU: Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) manufacturing company. ideaForge and space technology startup GalaxEye have signed one MoU to jointly develop a groundbreaking UAV FOPEN (Foliage Penetration) radar adapted for security forces for enhanced aerial surveillance and mapping capabilities.
The proposed solution is intended to meet the unique demands of operations that require penetrating dense foliage, ensuring seamless monitoring and overcoming obstacles. This was one of the requirements of the security forces to be able to see under foliage and through fog.
Under this collaboration, ideaForge will contribute its expertise in UAV technology, combining it with GalaxEye’s Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) technology. In addition, GalaxEye will provide technical support in optimizing the integrated solution to provide enhanced monitoring capabilities even in challenging scenarios.
“This Foliage Penetrating UAV Radar System overcomes obstacles such as clouds, fog, smoke, fog, camouflage nets and dense canopy, which often hinder surveillance operations. Furthermore, the MoU also includes the development of a high-resolution 3D canopy-penetrating radar. When mounted on a UAV, this radar will function as an all-weather surveillance payload that can identify objects hidden by foliage or camouflage through tactical real-time ground photography,” said a statement issued here.
ideaForge recently incorporated the integration of third-party payloads into its UAV platforms, enabling versatile payload options and a wider range of compatible solutions for its end customers. This, the company said, will improve drone missions and foster an ecosystem where system integrators and hardware developers can create new and innovative applications based on ideaForge’s drone platforms.
Ankit Mehta, CEO of ideaForge, said: “We are pleased to partner with GalaxEye to develop cutting-edge solutions in the field of aerial surveillance and mapping, which will significantly enhance the capabilities of our security forces and assist them in their efforts to combat the nation against existing and future threats. This collaboration represents an important step forward in our commitment to providing our customers with the most advanced and innovative technology.”
Suyash Singh, co-founder and CEO of GalaxEye, said adding the new dimension to SAR technology, in collaboration combined with ideaForge’s expertise, will provide security agencies with unparalleled, unprecedented benefits in challenging operational scenarios with minimal operational effort.
