India’s rice exports grew 109 percent between 2013-14 and 2021-22, Trade and Industry minister Piyush Goyal tweeted Sunday.
In a tweet, Goyal said: “India’s rice exports are growing at an astonishing 109%.”
Narendra Modi’s government policies help farmers access global markets and ensure food security, he added.
He tweeted the rice export figures in an image titled “INDIA THE RICE BASKET OF THE WORLD”.
The photo showed that rice exports, excluding Basmati, were worth $2,925 million in fiscal year 2013-14, and have grown cumulatively since then to $6,115 million in fiscal year 2021-22.
Separately, a note from the ministry of agriculture showed that rice exports increased 9.24 percent in fiscal year 2021-22, with rice exports reaching 102 percent of the total target for the year.
