InterGlobe Aviation, the parent company of low-cost carrier IndiGo, has appointed Pieter Elbers as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) on Wednesday. Mr. Elbers will join from October 1, 2022, the airline reports in a notification to exchanges.
“He succeeds 71-year-old Ronojoy Dutta, who has decided to retire on September 30, 2022, after guiding IndiGo through the turbulent Covid-19 period,” it added.

Since 2014, Mr. Elbers, 52, has been President and CEO of KLM Royal Dutch Airlines. He is also a member of the executive committee of the Air France-KLM Group, according to IndiGo.
He has a bachelor’s degree in logistics management and a master’s degree in business economics.

Earlier in February of this year, IndiGo’s co-promoter Rakesh Gangwal resigned from the board of directors of parent company InterGlobe Aviation, saying he will gradually reduce its equity stake in the airline over the next five years.
Mr. Gangwal and his affiliates own approximately 37 percent interest in this company. Mr. Bhatia and his affiliates own approximately 38 percent of InterGlobe Aviation.
