Jio-bp provides battery exchange facility for Zomato elektrische electric vehicles
New Delhi:
Jio-bp, the fuel and mobility joint venture between Reliance Industries Ltd and supermajor bp, said on Wednesday it will provide battery-changing facilities to electric vehicles (EVs) from the Zomato food delivery app.
Jio-bp said it has entered into an agreement with the food delivery company “to support Zomato’s commitment to The Climate Group’s EV100 initiative of 100 percent EV fleet by 2030.” “Towards the same, Jio-bp will provide EV mobility services to Zomato, along with access to ‘Jio-bp pulse’ battery exchange stations for last-mile delivery,” it said in a statement.
By leveraging the best of RIL and bp’s electrification strengths, Jio-bp is creating an ecosystem that will benefit all stakeholders in the EV value chain.
Last year, Jio-bp built and launched two of India’s largest EV charging stations.
The JV’s electric mobility business, which provides charging infrastructure to Indian consumers, operates under the Jio-bp pulse brand. With the Jio-bp pulse mobile app, customers can easily find nearby charging stations and charge their EVs seamlessly.
The partnership is poised to accelerate the adoption of EVs in the fast-growing Indian delivery and transportation segment.
“With powerful batteries resulting in superior driving range on the road and with battery changes taking just a few minutes, battery swapping has become an ideal solution for two- and three-wheelers, especially those operating in the last-mile delivery segment. Battery swapping will be the main driver for electrification of the last mile delivery and passenger segments,” the statement said.
