DOHA:
Some airlines may need to adjust their capacity plans to accommodate staff shortages, but not all airlines and airports are facing the chaos recently witnessed in Europe, the head of a global airline said Tuesday.
“Let’s relax a little; yes we have challenges, but it’s not everywhere,” said Willie Walsh, director-general of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), adding that the industry would be working its way through recent problems.
He spoke to reporters as global airlines concluded a three-day meeting marked by a sharper-than-expected recovery in air traffic, overshadowed by concerns over inflation and the conflict in Ukraine.
