Bombay:
Life Insurance Corporation of India reported a multiple jump in June net profit at Rs 682.89 crore on Friday.
The state-run life insurance giant, which recently went public, had a net profit of Rs 2.94 crore in the period from a year ago.
The first year premium for the reporting quarter was Rs 7,429 crore versus Rs 5,088 crore in the year-ago period, it said in an exchange request after the board meeting.
Total income was Rs 1.68.881 crore for the June quarter, compared to Rs 1.54.153 crore in the same period a year ago, it said.
Compared to the previous quarter of March, performance was lower across all parameters, the filings showed.
The net profit was Rs 2,371 crore, the first year premium was Rs 14,614 crore and the total income was Rs 2,11,451 crore in the March quarter.
LIC shares closed 0.03 percent lower on Friday at Rs 682.15 apiece on the BSE, against 0.22 percent gain on benchmark Sensex. PTI BEN AA MR
