NEW DELHI: The Municipal company of Delhi (MCD) has imposed a fine of Rs 5 lakh on a subsidiary of Godrej Properties for not taking environmental safety measures during construction work at the project site here. In a regulatory filing on Saturday, Godrej Properties said its subsidiary Godrej Vestamark LLP had received an order in this regard on October 16 under the Delhi Municipal Corporation Act 1957.
The violation committed by the subsidiary is “failure to comply with the instructions contained in the decision of the NGT of April 10, 2015, as well as the Ministry of the Environment and Forests Guidelines, 2010 regarding the precautionary measures to be taken during construction of the project in New Delhi,” the filing said.
Godrej Properties is one of the leading real estate companies in the country. It has a large presence in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, Delhi-NCR, Pune and Bengaluru.
