Petrol, diesel prices today: unchanged for the 19th day in a row
Fuel tariffs were unchanged Monday for the 19th day in a row in all metro cities since an increase of 80 paise per liter on April 6 in petrol and diesel prices.
That comes after a 14-fold increase from a cumulative rise of Rs 10 per liter in the petrol and diesel tariff since price revisions started again on March 22, after nearly four months of constant rates.
Here are the updates on the petrol and diesel price as of April 25, 2022:
In Delhi, a liter of petrol costs 105.41 and diesel 96.67. In Mumbai, petrol costs 120.51 per liter and diesel 104.77. In Chennai, petrol is sold for 110.85 per liter and diesel for ₹100.94. Petrol is sold in Chennai for 115.12 and diesel for ₹99.83.
If the recent trend of rising prices in India’s crude oil basket continues, oil retailers will be forced to raise pump prices.
State retailers set fuel prices every day based on the dynamic fuel pricing methodology.
The price revision method, or dynamic fuel pricing methodology, takes into account several factors such as international crude oil prices, the exchange rate of the rupee against the dollar, actual and projected demand, and the flow of trade in global crude oil markets.
In addition, central tax or excise duties, value-added tax (VAT) – which vary from state to state, and retailer commission are included to derive from the sale price of fuel.
More than 57 percent of the fuel price per liter goes to taxes, excise duties, excise duties and dealer margins. So those costs included determining the final retail price of fuel at gas pumps.
States decide on value-added tax (VAT) varies from country to country, and Mumbai tops the list of metros for the highest fuel prices.
