With only hours to go before Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presents the Union budget for the financial year 2023-2024, Finance Minister Pankaj Chaudhary said on Wednesday that this budget would meet the expectations of the general public and that India’s economy is on track.
In an exclusive interview with ANI, MoS Finance Pankaj Chaudhary said, “Since the Modi government has been formed, the budget has taken into account all sections of society.”
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the 2023 budget in Lok Sabha at 11am today.
When asked about tax billing or exemption for people who belong to the middle class this time around, Chaudhary said, “It’s only a matter of a few hours, this budget will definitely meet everyone’s expectations.”
Citing Economic Survey 2022-23 submitted in parliament on the inaugural day of the budget session, Mr Chaudhary said India’s economy is on track.
Earlier, in an interview with ANI, Pankaj Chowdhary had responded to questions about whether the budget will be presented in view of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and the upcoming parliamentary elections.
Ahead of the budget session, Union finance minister Pankaj Chaudhary told ANI on Tuesday that “elections keep coming”, the Union budget for 2023-24 will be aimed at improving the economic conditions of the people.
“Prime Minister Modi’s attention is always there and it will be reflected in this budget,” he said.
