Bill Gates, billionaire philanthropist, said on Wednesday that India has a “great” digital network and a high level of smartphone usage with “very good” connectivity, adding that it will be the cheapest 5G market.
Under India’s G20 presidency, a session on ‘Building Resilient and Inclusive Economies – The Promise of Digital Public Infrastructure’ was held in New Delhi on Wednesday.
Addressing the session, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates appreciated India’s competitive residential market, reliable and cheap connectivity, and went on to say that it will be the cheapest 5G market.
India has a great digital network and a very high percentage of people using smartphones, he noted.
Telecom and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw called 2023 a milestone year and said digital technology has matured.
Artificial intelligence, 5G and quantum computing have become mainstream technology.
India has created a unique framework for the digital economy that focuses on making a difference in people’s lives, the minister said.
