A video of disgraced West Indies all-rounder Carlos Brathwaite is going viral on social media. The emerging clip has cast Brathwaite in bad light as the player was seen smashing his helmet with his bat after he was unhappy with a dismissal at George Town. The incident took place during the Qualifier 1 match between Brathwaite's team New York Strikers and Grand Cayman Jaguars at Max60 Caribbean 2024. Brathwaite resorted to the act after he faced a controversial dismissal.
A short ball from Joshua Little caught Brathwaite's shoulder before being caught behind the stumps. The ball appeared not to make contact with the bat, but the umpire raised his finger on an appeal for a caught behind.
As he walked back to the pavilion, an enraged Brathwaite knocked his helmet out of the park with his bat, before also knocking the willow over as he approached the dugout.

The New York Strikers defeated the Grand Cayman Jaguars by eight runs in the first qualifying match to qualify for the Max60 Cayman Islands final.
Mitchell Owen (22 off 10 balls) and Brandon McMullen (18 off 8) were sent in to bat and shared 34 runs in 2.2 overs for the opening wicket, laying the foundation for their huge total of 108 for eight.
Owen adorned his knock with four boundaries, while McMullen hit one four and two sixes during his stay at the crease.
Captain Thisara Perera also scored 16 runs from seven deliveries, hitting two sixes.
Josh Little (14/2), Jake Lintott (15/2) and captain Sikandar Raza (22/2) shared six wickets for Grand Cayman Jaguars.
Alex Hales' unbeaten 35-run (24 balls) and captain Raza's 27-run cameo (16 balls) proved insufficient as the Grand Cayman Jaguars fell eight runs short, scoring 96 for five in their allotted 10 overs.
While Hales brightened up his innings with four boundaries, Raza hit one four and three hits over the fence.
Left-handed spinner Ansh Patel was the best bowler for New York Strikers with a score of 2 for 8 in his two overs.
Besides Perera, left-handed pacer Isuru Udana (1/32) and Mitchell Owen (1/19) also took a wicket each for New York Strikers.
