After the first Asian Cup match of 2023 between India and Pakistan was canceled due to rain, the fate of another hangs in the balance with the Super 4 match between the two teams on Sunday, which is also expected to bring a lot of rain. In the group stage only one of the innings was possible with Pakistan not conceding a single pitch after India set them a target of 267 runs to chase. And now former chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, Najam Sethi, has accused the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) of deciding to cancel the Super-4 match between India and Pakistan not shift from Colombo to Hambantota.
A possible change of location of the Super-4 games was planned, due to the bad weather conditions in certain parts of Sri Lanka. However, Sethi claimed that although the BCCI and ACC considered moving the Indo-Pak competition Hambantota from Colombo, they decided against making the change.
Sethi shared a few photos showing the contrasting weather conditions in the two cities and highlighted how Colombo has an 89% chance of rain on Sunday, while Hambantota has only 12%. Nevertheless, the BCCI and ACC decided to keep Colombo as the location for the high-profile meeting.
“BCCI/ACC informed PCB today that they had decided to move the next India-Pak match from Colombo to Hambantota due to rain forecasts. Within an hour they changed their mind and announced Colombo as the venue. What’s going on “Is India afraid to play and lose to Pakistan? Look at the rain forecast!” he wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

What is interesting to note is that apart from the first Super 4 match between Pakistan and Bangladesh which will be held in Lahore, all remaining matches of the 2023 Asia Cup will be held in Colombo.
