The Indian men's cricket team met Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese ahead of the two-day practice match in Canberra. India's returning skipper Rohit Sharma introduced Mr Albanese to the entire Indian team. Although the Australian Prime Minister only met members of the Indian team for a short time, he did have some 'spirited' conversations with Virat Kohli. In a video that emerged on social media, Mr Albanese was seen having a cheeky conversation with Virat, praising the Indian cricket icon's performance in Perth during the first Test.
“Good time in Perth. Damn, as if we didn't suffer enough at one point,” the Australian Prime Minister said while meeting the Indian team. It was Kohli's response that won everyone's hearts on social media. “I always had to add some spice to it,” Kohli said in response.

The practice match is scheduled ahead of the Indian team's pink-ball match against Australia in Adelaide.

“We are taking the opportunity to maintain Scott Boland's match fitness during his preparations as part of the Test squad. We thank the Prime Minister for his input into the squad, which brings together some of the country's most exciting young cricketers with some very experienced players,” he added.

India didn't have a memorable performance in Adelaide for a pink-ball Test last time (in 2020), they were famously bowled out for 36 runs in the second innings. Although India won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy that year, the ghosts of that collapse still haunt the team.
