The Asian Cricket Council on Tuesday announced the schedule for the upcoming Asian Cup, which starts on August 27. It was previously confirmed that the Asian Cup will be hosted by Sri Lanka in the UAE. The tournament was moved from Sri Lanka due to the ongoing economic crisis. India, the defending champions, will face arch rivals Pakistan in their first match at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on August 28. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka will face Afghanistan in the tournament opener on August 27, while the final will be played on September 11. The UAE, Kuwait, Singapore and Hong Kong will play a qualifier for the 6th and last place in the 2022 Asian Cup.
In the main tournament, the six teams will be divided into two groups of three teams.
India is in Group A with Pakistan, while the last place is taken by qualifying.
In Group, Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka compete for a spot in the Super 4.
This year’s Asian Cup will be played in T20 format.
