Two wins in three matches in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 campaign, but Pakistan captain Babar Azam is facing extreme criticism from some of his former teammates. Shoaib Malik, one of the greats of Pakistani cricket, has once again advised Babar to give up the captaincy and concentrate only on his batting. Malik’s suggestion came after Pakistan lost to arch-rivals India in the competitive phase of the World Cup on Saturday. Not only Malik, but some other former Pakistani cricketers and fans have also questioned Babar’s captaincy after the loss.
“Look, I will give you my honest opinion on this. I have already said this in previous interviews that Babar should leave the captaincy, it is just my opinion but there is a lot of homework behind it. Babar can do wonders as a player. himself and for the team,” the former Pakistan skipper said on A-Sports.
“It is my personal opinion and it is not because we lost the match today (against India) or because we lost by a big margin, no, my opinion is not based on that,” he said.

Malik feels that Babar does not think out of the box as a captain, which is a major problem regarding his leadership qualities. He recommended the name Shaheen Shah Afridi as Babar’s Pakistan skipper decides to resign.
“I think Babar as a leader doesn’t think outside the box. You shouldn’t mix his leadership with his batting skills because they are both different. He has been captain for a long time but he still hasn’t done that.” “He hasn’t been able to improve himself,” the 41-year-old claimed.
“Shaheen Afridi should become captain of white-ball cricket in case Babar Azam resigns. He has held an attacking captaincy role for Lahore Qalandars,” he concluded.
