Bangladesh's Shohely Akhter On Tuesday, the first female cricket player to be exiled by the ICC was trying to repair matches during the World Cup 2023 T20 for corruption after it was found guilty. The 36-year-old was banned for five years. Shohely, Die off-spin Bowt and appeared in two ODIs and 13 T20 internationals for Bangladesh, admitted that he violated five provisions of the ICC-Anti-corruption code during the tournament in South Africa. The charges were due to corrupt approaches during the Women's Women's T20 cup matches.
However, she was not part of the Bangladesh team for that tournament. Shohely turned out for Bangladesh for the last time in 2022.
Shohely gave the charges of violating articles 2.1.1, 2.1.3, 2.1.4, 2.4.4 and 2.4.7 of the code and accepted the five -year prohibition, starting from 10 February 2025.
The ACU study focused on Shohely on Facebook Messenger with a cricket player, identified by the ICC as 'Player A', on February 14, 2023.
During the research, the ACU discovered that Shohely, prior to the competition of Bangladesh versus Australia in the World Cup ladies on February 14, contacted future Bangladesh competitions.
According to the research, Shohely told the teammate that her 'cousin', who “bets on his phone”, asked her if she would come from Hit Wicket during the Australian competition.
Shohely also told the aforementioned player that she would get 2 million Bangladesh Takas if she did the solution, and the money would come from winning her 'cousin' made of his bets.
According to the ICC research, the cricket player also told her teammate that her 'cousin' could pay her more if 2 million Takas was not enough and promised her that full confidentiality would be maintained, including the removal of her messages “so they no longer existed” .
The player who was approached, however, not only rejected the offers, but also immediately reported the business to the ACU, and delivered all the speech notes from Shohely, who had removed those files on her devices. PTI AH AH PDS PDS
