The Yash Dhull-led Indian team won the 2022 ICC U19 World Cup by beating England by 4 wickets in the final in Antigua on Sunday. This is a record extension of India’s fifth win in the U19 World Cup. England’s bid to win their second title since winning the tournament in 1998 ended in disappointment as the undefeated Indian juggernaut steamed their opponents. India was great with the ball, bringing England back to 61/6, before James Rew’s (95) rear guard took the team to 189. India had to work hard for their points and in the end it was the unbeaten 50 strokes of Nishant Sindhu and another half century of vice captain Shaik Rasheed (50) that took the team home. Raj Angad Bawa was named player of the match for his devastating spell of 5/31 and adult knockout of 35 that resulted in the win.
Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Chairman Sourav Ganguly and other Indian Cricket Board officials posted congratulatory tweets following Dhull and his team’s win.
“Congratulations to the under-19 team and support staff and selectors for winning the World Cup in such a wonderful way..The 40 lakhs cash prize we announced is a small token of appreciation, but their efforts are worthless. .magnificent.. stuff..@bcciGanguly wrote.

The win is a special one as the Indian team beat every chance to win in the Caribbean. The team was hit by Covid-19 early in the tournament, causing Captain Dhull and vice-captain Rasheed, along with a few other players, to miss a few games after testing positive.
