Indian cricketers during their training in South Africa
Team India started preparations for the upcoming three-game test series in South Africa. The Virat Kohli-led Indian Test squad did their first training session in Centurion on Saturday, ahead of the Boxing Day Test series opening on December 26 at SuperSport Park. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared multiple photos in a series of tweets to give fans a glimpse of the Indian training session. “#TeamIndia starting preparations for the first Test in Centurion First practice session done”, the BCCI wrote with the photos.
In the pictures, India’s Test captain Virat Kohli, vice-captain for this series – Rohit has been ruled out due to a hamstring injury – KL Rahul, opener Mayank Agarwal, Ajinkya Rahane, pacer Jsaprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Umesh Yadav, spinner Ravichandran Ashwin and others were trained under the watchful eye of head coach Rahul Dravid, batting coach Vikram Rathour.

The Indian team is missing a few key players such as Rohit and Ravindra Jadeja and Shubman Gill – all ruled out due to injuries – and has Cheteshwar Pujara, Rahane and also captain Kohli who are not in the best shape but they have shown on their last two away tours in England and Australia they know how to bounce back against all odds.
The record is not in favor of India. They have yet to win a Test series in South Africa, but given India’s bowling attack, their recent overseas record and South Africa’s not so menacing test squad, many believe this is the best chance for the visitors to win their first series.
India is scheduled to play three Tests, followed by an equal number of ODIs in South Africa.
