Following his side’s 58-run win over England in the second T20I, South African captain David Miller said the bowlers made it easy for him by taking wickets. An all-round South African show led by Rilee Rossouw and spinner Tabraiz Shamsi helped the visitors take a 58-point win over England on Thursday in the second T20I of the three-game series in Cardiff.
“We’ll win. A good turnaround for us. A great performance. We had one or two meetings last night to clear up. We’ve picked ourselves up. I’m really happy with the bowlers. They’ve made it easier for me by taking wickets. I didn’t juggle too much because they performed really well. Huge limit there. It was a left-right combination that we had to keep in mind,” Miller said in a post-match presentation.
The series of three games is now at 1-1.
In the first innings, South Africa put 207/3 on the board, with Rilee Rossouw hitting an unbeaten 96 off 55 balls with ten fours and five sixes. Reeza Hendricks also played an amazing 53 knockout off just 32 balls. England couldn’t do much damage as spinner Moeen Ali and pacers Richard Gleeson and Chris Jordan managed just one wicket each.
In the pursuit of 208 runs, England regularly lost wickets and never looked like they were a threat. Half the team was back in the cabin before it could cross the 100-run mark. There were contributions from skipper Jos Buttler (29), Moeen Ali (28) and Jonny Bairstow (30), but it wasn’t enough to stop the Proteas from taking a 58 point win as the hosts were knocked out for 149 Shamsi (3/27) was the best bowler for South Africa.

Rossouw’s stroke of 96* earned him the title ‘Man of the Match’.
