There are certain moments in the game of cricket that surprise even the most experienced players who have seen almost everything the sport has to offer for themselves. One such instance occurred when veteran Nottinghamshire player Luke Fletcher even surprised himself with a direct throw to the stumps that set off a crucial runout from Stuart Broad’s bowling. The batter who was eliminated was Middlesex’s Josh De Caires. The batter on the other side – Mark Stoneman – had played five consecutive dotballs when Stuart Broad created pressure. So when Stoneman sensed an opportunity to grab a single, he went for it while pushing a throw aimed at his leg-side pads in the circle. However, 33-year-old Luke defied the age limit and jumped on the ball to set off an epic run.
However, the celebration that followed the run was even more special with players grabbing and hugging an ecstatic Fletcher for joy.
The County Championship official handle tweeted with a caption that said, “Which is better, the run out or party?”

Middlesex ended up being all out for 195 runs in their first innings. Skipper Peter Handscomb scored the highest score with 48 runs. James Pattinson finished with 4 wickets while Broad took 3 casualties.

In response, Nottinghamshire scored 415 points, thanks to a ton from Haseeb Hameed. Steven Mullaney also hit brilliantly for his 92.
Luke returned to torment the bowlers with the bat when he scored 50 runs after taking a wicket earlier.
