Shikhar Dhawan took to social media on Thursday to share an update on his health, a day after his positive COVID-19 result. Dhawan, who was preparing for the limited-over series against the West Indies this month, tested positive for the virus on Wednesday. Commenting on the development, Dhawan said on social media that things are “going well” at the moment. “Thank you all for your wishes,” the India opener wrote on his Instagram account. “I’m fine and I’m humbled by all the love that has come my way,” he added.
Earlier on Wednesday, Dhawan was one of seven members in the Team India camp to test positive for COVID-19.
A total of four players – openers Dhawan and Ruturaj Gaikwad, batter Shreyas Iyer and net bowler Navdeep Saini – tested positive for the virus, along with three support staff during their mandatory isolation period before the start of the West Indies series.
Mayank Agarwal was added to the Indian ODI squad on Wednesday evening for the upcoming series following the virus outbreak.
The Indian team gathered in Ahmedabad on January 31 for the upcoming white-ball series against the West Indies and went through a three-day isolation period after their hiatus from the South African series.
The series kicks off on February 6 in Ahmedabad with India’s 1000th ODI match.

“The All-India Senior Selection Committee has added Mayank Agarwal to India’s ODI squad after seven members, including three Team India (Senior Men) players, tested positive for COVID-19 after three rounds of RT-PCR testing,” it said. the BCCI in a press release.
“Members were asked to report to Ahmedabad on January 31, 2022 for the upcoming three-match Paytm ODI and T20I series against the West Indies. Each member was also asked to undergo an RT-PCR test at home before joining. their journey to Ahmedabad began and the journey was not undertaken until after a negative test,” it added.
