David Warner posted a photo with Kane Williamson and his daughter
Australian lead-off hitter David Warner has a new home in the Indian Premier League. The former captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad was bought in the IPL mega auction by Delhi Capitals for Rs 6.25 crore and that is bringing the curtains down on his long stint with SRH. Warner, who had led the franchise to the IPL title, got into a fight with team management last season, which also saw him lose his captaincy. New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson was handed the job mid-season. The Kiwi batter had also taken responsibility in the 2018 season, when Warner served a suspension for his involvement in the ‘Sandpapergate’ controversy, taking the team to the finals.
Warner has been quite expressive about his love for the franchise on his social media accounts and on Wednesday he posted photos with Kane Williamson on Instagram and also wrote an emotional post. In one of the photos, Warner was also sitting next to Williamson’s daughter.
“I’m going to miss my breakfast time with the Williamsons and I’m going to miss cricket with your brother!! #bromance #cricket #friends @kane_s_w,” Warner wrote on Instagram.
Warner leaves SRH as the leading goalscorer in franchise history. He scored 4014 runs in 95 innings with a whopping nearly 50. He scored his runs with a strike rate of over 140 and scored two centuries and forty fifty during his stint.
Warner had started his IPL career with Delhi Daredevils and will return to his old franchise now called Delhi Capitals.
