Defending champion Knight Riders (KKR) will compete against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the opening match of IPL 2025 on Saturday in the Eden Gardens. However, the weather could play a booty, with more than 80 percent chance of rain in Kolkata on competition day. Both KKR and RCB will be led this season by new captains, with Ajinkya Rahane who is in charge of KKR, while RCB Rajat Patidar has given his first maternity cropy in the IPL. In anticipation of the long-awaited competition, a viral video with KKR captain Rahane has become viral on social media.
The video claimed that Rahane was too late for the training, with the KKR teamus seemed to leave for the stadium without him. We could not confirm the authenticity of the video.
In the video, Rahane can be seen running with a bat in his hands, hoping to enter the team bus before it leaves.

Prior to the game in the Eden Gardens, the Indian with Department (IMD) has issued an “Oranje Alert” for the area. “Light to moderate rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds are expected” until Saturday, the report said.
In the days prior to the season opener, Kolkata experienced short periods of rain, which resulted in one KKR practice competition between the Squad squadium that was canceled after only one innings. Light rain fell into the city on Wednesday and Thursday, although both teams managed to complete their practice sessions.
For the new season, former KKR captain Sourv Ganguly said that it is too early to decide who contenders are for the title, because all teams look balanced.
“It's too early to say something now. The tournament is too long and competitive. All teams are in balance,” Ganguly told the media.
