India defeated New Zealand by a record 372 runs in the second Test at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai to win the two-game series at home 1-0. New Zealand had saved the first Test on the skin of their teeth with debutant Rachin Ravindra putting down a stubborn strike. But Virat Kohli and his team in Mumbai couldn’t be denied as they steamed the visitors to register their 14th consecutive Test series win at home. After India’s victory, many current and past cricketers praised the team for a fine performance in the series, but a New Zealand cricketer’s tweet was not well received by fans on Twitter.
Pacer Mitchell McClenaghan, who has never played a test for New Zealand, with his last international appearance in a T20I in 2018, seems to be downplaying India’s victory.
“I am thrilled that India beat the @ICC World Test Champion at home in their own circumstances. Congratulations,” McClenaghan tweeted.
Excited for India at the . defeat @ICC world champion tests at home in their own conditions. congratulations

The tweet did not go down well with New Zealand or Indian fans, with both supporters hitting the fast bowler with the left arm in the comments section.
Like a @BLACKCAPS fan i have to say i’m very disappointed that you tweeted something as provocative as this
That’s not what wares are. As skipper Kane Williamson always says, learn to accept defeat gracefully and give the opponent credit where it belongs when we’re outplayed

Everyone is a lion in their own country
And I think you are forgetting the series Vs Australia in Australia and Vs England in England

Now a New Zealand man is crying. The world champions cannot play in different conditions as the runners-up of WTC play all over the world and beat teams. We accept that in NZ we didn’t show what we are capable of, but still we go around the world beating teams.

Point:- @ICC World champions couldn’t even score runs in an inning and there was nothing bad in the pitch.
Point 2: – If you forget, let me remind you that the WTC final was played in your favorable circumstances, but we made no apologies.— RAUSHAN (@rnkp755) December 7, 2021
@Mitch_Savage India has won d series in australia twice and Eng.. but your so called wtc champion hasn’t won a series in overseas conditions yet.. join the final of wtc beating teams at home and you called India better home. d then registers comment ..

@Mitch_Savage As a cricket fan, I feel sorry for you, mate. Your tweets are in bad taste. Please go back to what you do, much better than this. Hope to see you on the field.

Sad to see such a demise of a good cricketer to become a cheap Twitter troll. Perhaps not getting more IPL contracts nor being selected into the NZ team is what leads to this frustration.

Why so salty? This doesn’t suit you. As a professional athlete, I certainly understand that you understand better than anyone that winning and losing is part of the game. All of us here in India love the Kiwis, please don’t ruin the public perception of Kiwis with your tweets.

India had lost to New Zealand in the final of the ICC World Test Championship in England, but defeated them completely in the recently concluded Test series.
While the Indians were unbeatable at home, they were just as much away from home. Indian young guns came forward in Australia and without their talisman Virat Kohli defeated an entire Australian team in their own backyard for a famous Test series triumph Down Under.
India also broke through Australia’s stronghold – the Gabba – with an absolutely stunning win against the wall, which few in the world of cricket would have predicted.

India then traveled to England and got twice the better of the English before the test series had to be halted due to Covid cases in the Indian camp.
Virat Kohli’s team led the test series 2-1 when the fifth and final test was postponed. India will have a chance to claim a series win in England when the rescheduled final Test is held in July next year.
