Rohit Sharma’s entry into the rescheduled fifth Test against England in Edgbaston has been called into question after he tested positive for COVID-19. It is still unknown if the Indian captain will recover in time to be fit for the all-important test. Numerous names have emerged to replace Rohit, if he fails to recover in time. But for former Australian spinner Brad Hogg there is only one name and that is Virat Kohli. Hogg said on his YouTube channel that Kohli started this series as a captain and should be able to finish it as one.
“One more test to go in this series and it has taken a year to complete but India is behind going into this test match. England are doing well, they just beat New Zealand and now India has a headache. Rahul de “Vice captain is injured. Rohit is sick in bed with Covid. Will he get up for this test match? If he doesn’t, who will captain?” said the former Australian cricketer.
“There has been talk about Bumrah. But for me it has to be Kohli. He started this series as captain, he should finish the series as captain. Don’t give it to anyone else. It’s 2-1 for India so Give Virat Kohli the rights to defend this title and the series by leading his team to victory in this final test match,” added the former left-arm wrist spinner.
The opening test at Trent Bridge had ended in a draw after India took a 1-0 series lead by winning at Lord’s. The third Test at Headingley, Leeds, went in the hosts’ favor as they tied the series.

However, India fought back to win the Oval Test and take a 2-1 lead.
The fifth meeting was postponed just hours before it was set to start at Old Trafford in Manchester in September, with India pulling out over a Covid fear.
