The European Cricket Series (ECS) often delivers moments that are rare in any other franchise-based competition or international cricket. The latest episode of ECS is proof of that statement. During an ECS Italy T10 match between Asian Latina and Royal Roma, a bizarre run-out turned out to be the deciding factor in the match. With the Asian Latina needing two runs in one ball, the batters’ attempt to force a draw led to heartbreak, handing Royal Roma a narrow one-run victory.
Umar Shahzad, who had the ball in his hands for the final, delivered a wide ball, bringing the equation back to two in one ball.
Shahzad went for the same line on the next delivery to prevent Khan Saleem, the batsman who was batting, from making a clean connection with the ball.
Saleem had a full swing but failed to touch the ball. The batters tried to force a draw by sneaking in a bye, but the keeper was equal to the task.
He underarmed the ball from the air towards the bowler. However, the ball went past the bowler’s legs but hit the stumps after a deflection.
Saleem fell far short due to the bizarre turn of events as the Asian Latina lost the match by one point.
Even the commentators couldn’t believe what was just happening before their eyes.
The incident has now gone viral on social media.
THIS HAS NOT HAPPENED YET!
With only a 1% chance of winning by six points and only losing by one point, Asian Latina’s heart was broken in the most bizarre way ever.#EuropeanCricket #EuropeanCricketSeries #Stronger together pic.twitter.com/sOie0DXemP
