Former Pakistan -Pacer Mohammad Amir has expressed concern about the injury of Fast Bowler Haris Rauf prior to the Champions trophy. Rauf stumbled with an injury after bowling only 6.2 overs during the opening match of the recently closed Tri series against New Zealand in Lahore. Since then he has been out of operation for Pakistan, who is confronted in the National Stadium in Karachi on Wednesday in the opening match of the Champions Trophy.
After the competition in Lahore, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) shared a medical update about Rauf and said that the Pacer “rose a muscle disguise in the lower chest wall.”
“After MRI and X-ray scans, it was confirmed that Pakistan Fast Bowler Haris Rauf sustained a muscular sprain in the wall of the lower breast during Saturday's game against New Zealand. The injury is not serious and it is expected to be fully recovered for The ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which starts in Karachi on 19 February, “read the statement on the PCB website.
“As a precautionary measure and part of his continuous rehabilitation, he will not be available for selection against South Africa on 12 February,” the statement added.
In anticipation of the Pakistan Champions trophy -opener against new -Zeeland, Amir has warned the PCB not to risk Rauf if he has had a side voltage. Amir revealed that if a player has suffered the side voltage, the recovery time for the injury is approximately six weeks.
“If Haris Rauf has a side voltage, he cannot fully recover before six weeks. If it is just stiffness, then it is different. If it is a tribe of class one or two, whatever happens, it will take six weeks , and then the rehabilitation starts, “Amir was quoted by Geo News.
Amir believes that it would be a “foolish” movement if PCB decides to risk him despite the problem of the side voltage.
“I got this injury a few years ago during PSL. If it is a side of class one or two, I don't think he can play the Champions trophy. I think it will be foolish to do his career for three Risk matches of a tournament because he is unable to give his 100 percent, “he added.
