Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has questioned the selection of the Indian cricket team as they only gave Suryakumar Yadav one test match and then dropped him from the squad. India announced its squad for the World Test Championship final against Australia on Tuesday. While Ajinkya Rahane’s comeback to the roster was the highlight, Suryakumar’s exclusion raised some eyebrows. Following his T20 performance, Suryakumar was included in the Indian squad for the four match test series against Australia which took place in February-March this year. However, the right-handed batter only got one game in which he scored 8 runs off 20 balls in his lone innings.
While Chopra expressed his delight at Rahane’s participation in the WTC final, he was critical of the selectors’ handling of Suryakumar.
Lucky for Rahane. But how does the SKY recording exclusion make sense? Select kyon kiya…kar liya toh ek match ke baad drop kyon kiyaChopra asked.

Suryakumar has failed to live up to expectations lately. He scored 123 runs in 6 matches in IPL 2023 playing for Mumbai Indians.
On the other hand, Rahane is the third highest scorer in the current IPL season with 209 runs to his name in 5 matches. He has an average of 52.25 and a pass rate of 199.05.
In the recently concluded Ranji Trophy, Rahane scored 634 runs in 11 innings at an average of 57.63 for Mumbai. In those 11 innings he hit two hundred, including a double hundred (204). His campaign average was even higher than his career First Class average of 47.12.
