The third and final T20I match between India and New Zealand ended in a draw. After hosts New Zealand scored 160 in 19.4 overs, Rain stopped play with the visitors at 75/4 in 9 overs in the chase. Under the Duckworth-Lewis method, the scores were tied, so the game ended in a draw and therefore the series ended 1-0 in India’s favour. “Really happy with the way things are going, would have loved to play a full match, but I’m glad we won the series,” said Suryakumar Yadav at the post-match presentation ceremony.
India faltered at one point at 21/3 and from then on Suryakumar Yadav and his skipper Hardik Pandya forged a 39-run partnership and helped the visitors cross the 50-run mark in 4.4 overs.
“We can’t control the weather. The pressure is always there, but it’s not fun when it’s not there,” said Suryakumar Yadav.
Suryakumar Yadav picked up the Player of the Series award for scoring 124 runs in two innings, including a century he scored in the second T20I at Mount Maunganui to help India take a 1–0 lead.
“I just enjoy my batting and don’t carry any baggage,” Suryakumar Yadav told me.

The 32-year-old will also hold the key for India in the three-match ODI series that begins on Friday. “May take some time, but the approach and intention will be the same. These things are beyond our control. We can just express ourselves,” said Suryakumar Yadav.
After the victory in the T20 series, India will aim for an ODI series win with Shikhar Dhawan leading.
