The match schedule for the 2022 ICC Men’s U19 Cricket World Cup was updated on Wednesday following Afghanistan’s delayed arrival in the Caribbean. After successfully obtaining the necessary visas to travel, Afghanistan will arrive in the West Indies and undergo the required quarantine period. The changes have been approved by the Event Technical Committee, consisting of Chris Tetley, ICC Head of Events (Chairman); Ben Leaver, ICC Senior Event Manager; Fawwaz Baksh, Tournament Director; Roland Holder, WICB representative; Alan Wilkins and Russell Arnold.
ICC Head of Events, Chris Tetley, said: “We are delighted that the Afghan squad has received the necessary visas and is able to travel to participate in the 2022 ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup.
“We have reworked the Group C match schedules to ensure all matches can take place within the allotted time and would like to thank the participating members for their flexibility in finding a solution,” he added.
To ensure all matches can be played, four of Group C’s six matches in Trinidad and Tobago have been rescheduled as follows:
January 15 – Zimbabwe v PNG – Queens Park Oval. Moved to January 20.
January 17th – Pakistan v Zimbabwe – Diego Martin Sporting Complex. Moved to January 22.
January 18 –Afghanistan v PNG – Diego Martin Sports Complex. Unchanged.
January 20 –Pakistan v Afghanistan – Brian Lara Cricket Ground. Unchanged.
January 22 – Pakistan v PNG – Queens Park Oval. Moved to January 15.
January 22 –Afghanistan v Zimbabwe – Diego Martin Sporting Complex. Moved to January 16.
