Righthanded batter Rahul Tripathi received his first call-up to the national team on Wednesday when he was named in the T20I roster for the upcoming two-game series against Ireland, which starts on June 26. After a good IPL for SunRisers Hyderabad, Tripathi had not found a spot in the squad for the series against South Africa, but he has now been named in the team for the Ireland series. A day after getting a call, Tripathi spoke to DailyExpertNews by phone and shared his emotions after being named to the squad.
“I am very happy and above all, it is a dream come true for me. Every cricketer, when he starts playing the game, wants to represent his country. On Wednesday, the All-India Senior Selection Committee had named the squad for the series against Ireland, with Hardik Pandya chosen as captain, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar will serve as his deputy.
