Gujarat Titans skipper Hardik Pandya sees teammate Sai Sudharsan doing “great things” in franchise cricket over the next two years. Sudharsan made an unbeaten 62 off 48 balls as Titans tamed Delhi Capitals for their second win in as many games. “He (Sai Sudharsan) is batting great. Kudos to the support staff and him too. The amount of batting he’s done in the past 15 days, the only result you see is all his hard work. ” I’m not wrong, in two years he will do something great for franchise cricket and ultimately for India,” said Hardik during the post-match presentation.
He said the winning mantra for him is to support his instincts.
Pandya opted to bowl and made some clever bowling changes to limit home side Delhi Capitals to 162/8 before winning the match by six wickets with 11 balls to spare.
“It’s my instinct. I like to support myself. I’d rather stand by myself and fall than make other people’s decisions. I’d rather give the first punch than take the first punch.” In the chase of 163 GT lost their key wickets to Shubman Gill and Pandya to be 54/3 in the Powerplay. But 21-year-old Sai Sudharshan showed a fine composure to anchor the chase with an unbeaten effort.
Pandya went on to say that they had a “funny” start, giving away an extra 15-20 runs in the Powerplay.
“It was a bit funny at first. We didn’t know what was happening, but something happened. We gave away another 15-20 runs in the power play. But our bowlers did a good job of bouncing back.” For Delhi Capitals, this was their second loss on the trot after losing the season opener to Lucknow Super Giants.
Warner blamed the circumstances, saying: “It swung more than I expected. Losing wickets in the power play can be a struggle. They showed how to adapt to the situation and it’s a lesson for us. ” “We have six more games here and anticipate the swing ahead of time. They bowled extremely well. We were in the game but Sai hit extremely well and David Miller took it away.” Oddly enough, Warner did not use Axar Patel while bowling and Warner said it was a match-up strategy.
