Former skipper Virat Kohli praised Team India’s performance against the West Indies in Friday’s second T20I. Kohli and Rishabh Pant’s quality was bolstered by a spirited bowling performance to death by Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Harshal Patel as India beat the West Indies by eight runs to seal the series with a match left. Kohli scored 52 runs off 41 balls before Pant and Venkatesh Iyer helped India after 186 in the 20 overs.
“It went to extremes. Great character to see,” Kohli posted after India’s win.
Meanwhile, Pant Venkatesh praised Iyer and said the young batter is a mature cricketer, who understands the situation very well.
“When you go through the order, you know the situation. He (Iyer) is someone who reads the situation very well. We talked about keeping it simple and not trying too many things. The plan was simple, see the ball hit the ball,” Pant said at the post-match press conference.

“He (Iyer) is a mature cricketer. He played the order for MP. Yes, in the IPL he opens, but we can’t think too much about that. In the Indian team we just try to get different positions for different people to find,” he added.
With this win, India took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-game series and the T20I final will be played on Sunday at the Eden Gardens.
