Mohammed Shami to appeal after catching Aiden Markram for the wicket© AFP
South Africa’s efforts to get off to a good start with the bat after knocking out India for 202 on Day 1 of the 2nd Test in Johannesburg were met with a huge setback when lead-off hitter Aiden Markram was sent off for just 7 runs by India’s in-form pacesetter Mohammed Shami. Shami bowled on the perfect line and length to catch Markram for the wicket.
Markram is desperate for runs after failing in both innings of the first Test at Centurion and his dry spot continued into his first outing in Johannesburg.
Shami, who completed 200 Test wickets in the first game of the series and finished the game with 8 wickets, threw the perfect ball to a batter who appears out of form.

Markram asked his captain Dean Elgar if he should take the DRS, but the non-striker, like the umpire, was fully convinced that Markram was close to the wickets when the ball hit his pads.
Former India captain and batting legend Sunil Gavaskar said in comment that it is very difficult for a batter like Markram, who takes an off-stump guard, to survive an LBW roll call if he misses the line of a straight ball.

India was previously sacked for 202, with Marco Jansen taking 4 wickets, while Kagiso Rabada and Duanne Olivier batted three times for the hosts.
Stand-in captain KL Rahul scored 50, while Ashwin added a useful 46. Virat Kohli is out of the competition due to an upper back cramp.
