This wicket-taking selection was praised by former Pakistani captain Salman Butt, who also praised the Indian selectors for learning from their past mistakes.
Butt praised Kuldeep, calling his selection a “good move” after India fell short in the recent ODI series against the Proteas.
On his official YouTube channel, Butt said: “Kuldeep Yadav’s comeback in the Indian ODI squad is a good move. India was short of options for taking wicket in South Africa. wickets. Shardul Thakur seemed to lack speed, maybe he is tired because he has also played a lot of test cricket. Even otherwise he doesn’t have the pace to harass batters unless he gets help from the field,” he said.
Salman Butt thinks Kuldeep could be a useful option for India, which is already without Washington Sundar.
However, Yuzvendra Chahal was able to form another effective partnership with Kuldeep with the ball and save India in the middle-overs with some much-needed wickets.

“Kuldeep is a very good option. With Washington Sundar as the off-spinner and Ravi Bishnoi as the leggie, the spin pool looks pretty strong. (Yuzvendra) Chahal is there too. India has introduced quite a few wicket-taking spinners. realized that India has to take wickets if they want to win one-day matches,” he added.
The three-game ODI series against the West Indies kicks off on February 6, followed by three T20Is.
