Suryakumar Yadav was the star of the show in the third T20I of the five-game series against the West Indies when he played a 76-run knockout to help India chase 165 runs with seven wickets in hand and one left to save. After the win, Hardik Pandya addressed a press conference where he talked about Suryakumar’s talent and how the team gains more balance when he bowls his full quota of four overs.
“Surya is someone who is an exceptional player, when he starts playing you are just impressed. Much credit goes to him, he has worked hard. He gets his comeuppance late in his life but god is kind to him and he gets the maximum,” said Hardik.
In the game, Hardik had returned with a 1-19 spell in four overs, and this helped limit the West Indies visitors to 164/5 in 20 overs.
“Obviously I’ve always enjoyed bowling when I’ve bowled. I’ve mentioned it several times before, that’s why I felt I needed to take some time off so my bowling kicks in, because I realized that when I bowl it gives a lot of balance to the side and confidence to the captain Yes I used to bowl I used to be a filler when someone wasn’t bowling I can proudly say I can now bowl four overs if third or fourth Seamer. I can contribute as well as with the bat,” Hardik said.
“I’m thankful, I’ve always thought that hard work is the key to making a comeback. No matter the hardship, you always get through it and you get what you deserve, if you do the hard work. Last World Cup was different “, this World Cup will be different. I have always kept the balance in my life, if I do it right I will smile and the same reaction would be there even if I don’t do it right,” he added.

On being the vice-captain of India’s T20I side for the series against West Indies, Hardik said: “Of course, very privileged to even be the vice-captain. Rohit gives you a lot of flexibility and freedom, which is his strength Here as Well, a lot of credit goes to him and Rahul Dravid for the way they got the team together and brought a lot of positive mentality in. Players feel safe, they don’t look over their shoulders.”
“They’re getting plenty of opportunities and they’re also being told not to play. That’s something that is commendable. I’ve always enjoyed responsibility and it’s given my game a bit of flair. When I think more, it adds more to my cricket,” he added.
