Former India paceman Ajit Agarkar expressed concern over former Team India captain Virat Kohli’s batting form as the team prepares for a three-game ODI and T20I series at home led by Rohit Sharma. Speaking exclusively on Star Sports show “Game Plan,” Agarkar gave an honest assessment of Kohli’s batting woes, calling his batting form a “concern” not only for the captaincy but also for the team’s combination. “Virat Kohli’s form is a concern, but we all know what kind of player he is. So hopefully he will discover his form sooner rather than later,” he said.
However, Agarkar stressed that Kohli could be a “key factor” for India’s chances, but it would all depend on how quickly “he discovers his form”.
“We’ve talked about different combinations before – Virat Kohli would be a key factor because of the kind of player he is, but right now he’s not at his best, which is a fact and the faster he finds his form, it goes. to make that much easier for Rohit Sharma to manage that thing then because of what he can do on his own, Virat Kohli,” he added.
The former pacer explained how winning matches is extremely important to maintain team morale as it also helps the squad enjoy the success of both the individuals and the team.
“At the end of the day you are only as successful as your team and if you don’t win, in the end it doesn’t matter how good you are on the pitch as a player, it’s no fun playing on the team.” he claimed.
