Indian cricketers had a mixed 2024, with the team ending a decade-plus wait for an ICC title and lifting the 2024 T20 World Cup title in the US and West Indies. But this year the team also struggled in other formats. While India failed to win a single match in the ODIs, they were also humiliated in the Tests at home against New Zealand before witnessing some heartbreaking results in Australia. While team milestones were few and far between, the Indians did manage to make headlines with some personal landmarks.
In Test cricket, India's great pacer Jasprit Bumrah ended the year with 71 wickets to his name, ranking him at number 1 not only for the country but across the world. The second player on the global list was England's Gus Atkinson, with 52 wickets to his name in the longest format. In India, Bumrah was joined by Ravindra Jadeja (48 wickets) at second.

In ODIs, India played only three matches and lost all of them against Sri Lanka. That is why they end the year without a single victory to their name, a unique milestone that has not been achieved in almost 50 years. In that series, Washington Sundar took the most wickets for the national team, picking five, while Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel stood second and third with four scalps each to their names.
