Mumbai Indians (MI) got off to another slow start in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as they went down by seven wickets to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Saturday to suffer their four consecutive defeats this season. However, despite continued disappointments, MI has some positives to take back and gain confidence. One of the biggest takeaways for MI would definitely be Suryakumar Yadav’s good form with the bat. Suryakumar has already scored two fifties in just two matches played. After his brilliant batting show on Saturday, he garnered immense praise from ex-Team India coach Ravi Shastri.
During the mid-game show on Star Sports, Shastri discussed the superb quality of Suryakumar’s stroke play, despite the team being behind.
Shastri was full of praise for MI’s batter and even joked that “all you have to do is get to the end of it when he comes by, say Surya namaskar.”
“Unbelievable. I mean, he’s played two games. He played a gem in the last innings he played, but today [game vs RCB] was special. Today was very special because you know it was uphill, downhill and he recorded it. And if you are 50 for no loss then 89/6 then in your last five overs you get 71 runs with Surya dealing the most damage all you need to do is at the end of it when he passes say Suryanamaskar ,” he said.

Suryakumar scored 52 runs off 36 balls vs Kolkata Knight Riders on April 6 in Pune and then played a gem of an innings against RCB on Saturday to go unbeaten on 68 runs.
But despite his exploits, MI lost both matches and remained scoreless in IPL 2022 so far.
