Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated Mumbai Indians by seven wickets on Saturday but the spotlight was on Virat Kohli after he furiously walked back after being given a leg-before wicket. The righthanded batter appeared to score for half a century, but came up two runs short. Kohli’s wicket was taken by Dewald Brevis and after going out by the third umpire, Kohli expressed his frustration and even knocked the bat to the ground as he left the field. The incident had occurred in the 19th over of RCB innings when Kohli was eliminated by the field official.
Kohli decided to reconsider the decision and it looked like the ball was connecting to the bat and pad at the same time. However, the third umpire said the evidence was inconclusive and stuck to the on-field call.
A day after the Mumbai Indians game, RCB shared the MCC law regarding LBWs stating: “If the ball makes contact with the batter’s person and strikes at the same time, it shall be considered the ball the bat has first touched.” touched.”
“We were just reading through Cricket’s MCC laws for LBW decisions, and here’s what we found. Shame Virat Kohli had to walk back disappointed after a brilliant knock,” RCB wrote in their tweet.
