Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) take on Delhi Capitals (DC) in Match 41 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday. The Shreyas Iyer-led team currently sits eighth in the IPL 2022 with six points from eight games, including three wins and five defeats. KKR will aim to return to winning ways, after narrowly defeating Gujarat Titans (GT) in their last game, losing by eight runs. Meanwhile, Delhi is seventh in the standings with six points from seven matches (three wins and four losses). One Net Run-Rate separates them. DC also lost their previous match, facing a 15 point defeat to Rajasthan Royals (RR) in match 34.
Here’s how KKR could stack up against Delhi Capitals:
Aaron Finch: He did not play against Gujarat Titans as Sam Billings starred in the role of the opener. But Billings could only collect four runs from four balls and was sacked by Mohammed Shami. The Aussie opener is hoping to get his chance to impress, having reached a handsome half-century the last time he played.
Venkatesh Iyer: Sunil Narine promoted to the top of the ranking in the previous two games and that didn’t work out for KKR. Venkatesh Iyer is expected to be promoted back to his usual opening position, with the all-rounder struggling lower in the rankings.
Shreyas Iyer: The KKR captain is their top scorer this season, having racked up 248 runs in eight games, including two 1950s.
Nitish Rana: He was cheaply sacked against Gujarat, for just two runs off seven balls. He hopes for good form.
Rinku Singh: He registered 35 runs on 28 balls, including four fours and a maximum against Gujarat, and is expected to have a long run.
André Russell: The West Indian all-rounder was in good form against Gujarat, hitting 48 runs off 25 balls. Russell also took four wickets in a single over.
Sunil Narine: He has been impressive for KKR this year, taking six wickets in eight games while being extremely frugal.
Shivam Mavi: The pacemaker took a wicket against Gujarat in four overs and gave up 36 runs.
Umesh Yadav: The pacer is in good shape this year, sitting sixth in the Purple Cap race with 11 wickets in eight games.
promoted
Tim Southee: He was in excellent form against Gujarat, taking three wickets in four overs.
Varun Chakaravarthy: He is in poor form in the current season and has taken just four wickets this year.
