Kolkata Knight Riders all-rounder, Pat Cummins, made a stellar entrance into this year’s edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), scoring the joint fastest fifty in the tournament’s history in his first game of the season against Mumbai Indians on Wednesday. Cummins got down to business with KKR taking 61 of 41 deliveries with five wickets in hand, and Cummins batting half a century in 14 deliveries, equaling KL Rahul for fastest IPL fifty. He finished the game with a six to seal a win in 16 overs.
A match set up to have a close finish ended in a rather emphatic victory for KKR, which was sealed in no time thanks to Cummins’ blitzkrieg.
Former batter from India, Wasim Jaffer, posted a meme on Twitter featuring Queen’s hit song “Bohemian Rhapsody” to describe Pat Cummins’ knock.
The photo showed former Queen frontman Freddie Mercury and the text was adapted to say, “Mommy, I just killed a match.”

Cummins finished undefeated on 56 of 15 deliveries and his knock was studded with four limits and six maximums.
MI pacemaker Daniel Sams bore the majority of the burden when Australia Test captain skipped him for 35 runs in 16th.
MI had set KKR a target of 162, after Suryakumar Yadav (52 of 36) and Tilak Varma (38 of 27) rescued the team after an initial collapse.
Kieron Pollard then hit 22 out of five deliveries on Pat Cummins in the last over of MI’s innings to give them a strong end.
KKR trailed two wickets in the Powerplay as they lost to seasoned opener Ajinkya Rahane and skipper Shreyas Iyer.
Sam Billings then gave much-needed boost to the KKR innings, while Venkatesh Iyer lingered on the other side.
However, Billings fell and Nitish Rana followed shortly after.
In-form Andre Russell looked to pick up where he left off and immediately started to attack, but was beaten by a Tymal Mills bouncer and left for 11 out of 5.
When Cummins walked away, the game was still on the line, with KKR losing wickets in quick succession, but then closed the game in style.

Venkatesh Iyer also scored an unbeaten half-century, hitting six boundaries and one six in his 41-ball 50.
Cummins joined the KKR squad late when he was with his national team for the Australian tour of Pakistan.
