Punjab Kings batter Shikhar Dhawan is the second highest runscorer in Indian Premier League (IPL) history. The left-handed batter has 5,981 runs to his name from 197 games and he currently represents the Punjab Kings in the ongoing IPL. This season he has managed to score 197 runs from five matches, with the highest score being 70. Former England spinner Graeme Swann called him “Mr.IPL” and he also said that Dhawan is in the shape of his life.
“Obviously he (Shikhar Dhawan) is in some form of his life. I mean he plays a pink suit outfit dog in the TATA IPL. I mean he’s Mr. IPL (to me) and I love it to watch every minute of him firing like that (when he’s in his element),’ Swann said on Star Sports’ show Cricket Live.
The former England spinner praised the wide range of shots the senior left-handed batsman has in his repertoire and claimed we’re seeing ‘Vintage Dhawan’ in the current season of the money-rich league.
“As soon as Shikhar Dhawan plays a shot over extra cover for a six early in his turns you know he’s in for a good time. And these are some vintage Shikhar Dhawan shots. He’s brilliant on the ground, brilliant on the square, that little slope over the top, a little bit to the side of the leg. It’s great,” Swann said.
