There appear to be conflicting interests regarding the program and venue of the Asia Cup in Pakistan. While the ‘hybrid model’ had already been agreed upon by former Pakistan Cricket Board Chief Najam Sethi and the Asian Cricket Council, Pakistan’s Sports Minister does not appear to be on the same wavelength as the national cricket body. As reports of Pakistan’s stance on India’s decision not to visit the Asia Cup country and its impact on the upcoming World Cup in India continued, a quirky rumor spread that BCCI Secretary Jay Shah agreed to visit Pakistan to travel.
The rumors spread like wildfire, with reporters from Pakistan confirming the development. A few reporters even claimed that PCB boss Zaka Ashraf has confirmed that he has traveled to India for the ODI World Cup in return. However, Arun Dhumal, president of the Indian Premier League and BCCI official, has distorted the reports.
Jay Shah accepted Zaka Ashraf’s invitation to attend the Asia Cup in Pakistan. Jay Shah wished Zaka the best of luck in his new position as chairman and invited him to watch the World Cup in India, which Zaka Asheaf also accepted.

“There has been no discussion. Neither India will travel to Pakistan nor our secretary will travel, contrary to reports that have surfaced. Only the schedule is final,” Arun Dhumal told PTI.
Dumal also confirmed that Jay Shah and Zaka Ashraf met in Durban where they discussed some topics related to the Asian Cup. He also said that only 4 matches of the Asia Cup will be held in Pakistan while 9 will be held in Sri Lanka.
India and Pakistan are expected to face each other twice in the Asian Cup. If the two teams qualify for the final, there would be a third meeting which will also be held in Sri Lanka.
If the Indian team is not in the finals, the title decider is likely to be held in Pakistan.
