Mumbai Indians coach Mahela Jayawardene has suggested few changes after repeated failures of the star-studded batting line-up and is also concerned about star opener Ishan Kishan’s drastic drop in form. Record five-time champions Mumbai Indians are going through their worst run in IPL history after losing their first eight games, including Sunday night’s Lucknow Super Giants.
“Good question. I need to rethink this and also have a chat with the rest of the coaches and make some plans,” Jayawardene said when asked about possible changes to the batting lineup in the future in the league.
“Batten is a concern for us, especially on good wickets where we have hit under par. This is a senior group that understand the circumstances and have performed in the past. We have to keep pushing and if we have to make those changes we will that do That.
“We had few changes (until now), but not many. We wanted to keep the percussion consistent. There are of course concerns as we have not been consistent whether we are batting first or chasing the totals,” said the Sri Lankan legend .
Jayawardene also plans to sit down with Kishan whose performance chart has plummeted after the 1950s in the first two games.
“He’s struggled a bit, we’ve given him the freedom to play his natural game. I haven’t spoken to him today, but I’ll have a talk with him soon,” he said.
Mumbai had bought back Kishan for Rs 15.25 crore in the IPL auction earlier this year.
